A good photograph speaks through silence.
I first began taking pictures when I went away to college - to a small school in Washington, DC, waaay back in 1965. Heaven only knows how many rolls of film I shot using my little Brownie Instamatic. Then marriage and the first baby - of course I just couldn't get enough shots of him!! He was followed by three more and life got so busy that my time to shoot was almost nil.
A few years ago, a friend of mine came to work with her new Canon Rebel Ti, and that was it. I got one and then took my first photography class to try to get some understanding of all its dials and controls. I have not stopped since then.
What I most love about this hobby is that I found that it has opened my eyes to the world around me and I now see things I would have missed before. I have a newfound appreciation for this great world we all share. In addition, I am something of a history buff. I love to shoot old buildings and end up researching them so that I can add some background to my up-loads here. I have learned a lot this way.
Besides all that, the photographic community is a wonderfully friendly and helpful group - a joy to be a part of.
A new thought: Moving into the golden years - having just crossed the 60 year old threshold! - and experiencing the wonders of grandchildren has brought a new and exciting dimension to my photography. They are now my most fave subjects.
