Greying baby boomer doing my best to avoid becoming a curmudgeon. I've lived in Bristol all my life apart from a three year spell at Uni in Leeds in the mid 1970s.

I've been interested in photography since the early 1970s and used to do my own developing and printing. Been taking digital shots for a few years now but have recently picked up a couple of used cheap SLRs (a Canon and Nikon) and aim to to get the films processed at Tesco. I've also recently purchased a film scanner to process my old negs and transparencies. Trouble is trying to track down the "safe place" I stored them!

Dear all,

I am Steve's daughter and below is a post he dictated to me on Saturday 3rd August 2013. Please carry on reading to the bottom:

"Thank you and farewell.

Some of you may have noticed that I have been relatively quiet lately on my account. Following many visits to various medical establishments, at the end of May I was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer and told I had 2-3 months left to live. God, how that time has flown. I had hoped to squeeze in a few more outings but then I discovered I had a deep vein thrombosis in my left leg and returned to hospital once again. Since then, I have been pretty much house bound. I plan to revisit some of my photographic collection and give some images the odd tweak and re-process in order to add a few extras from my archive. Much of this will depend on how well I am feeling at the time. Somewhere around the house I have a hoard of shots going back to the 1970s. I have asked my daughter and son to keep my account active by scanning some of these images. If any of you wish to use any of my images then that is quite okay with me but an acknowledgement of the source would be nice.

I would like to thank all those of you who have given me encouragement in what for me has been the fun discovery of the world of Flickr. There are just so many flickrites out there who are just so creative and talented who are hiding their lights under numerous bushels! I have only personally met a few of you but through our communications I feel that some of you I regard as personal friends. My daughter will post a brief message when the time comes and I shuffle this mortal coil.

Once again many thanks and good luck to you all.

Steve (Lewis)"

I am heartbroken to announce that my lovely Dad died at 3.25am this morning, 6th August. He truly loved Flickr and he was so very happy posting images and browsing others. Please keep viewing, it is his legacy.
