I have always been entranced by fabric, string and all things within the realm of textiles. Some of my fondest childhood memories involve sewing. My mother had an old Singer sewing machine that she used to sew almost every textile object in our house. My memories of her sewing and the magical transformation of mere fabric into desirable object still remain. In my junior year of high school, I found knitting, and that was the start of a lifelong infatuation. However, knitting is much more than merely something that I love; it is something that every fiber of my being is consumed and obsessed with.

Knitting is pure alchemy, and the resulting knitted object, gold. The entire process of knitting enthralls me, the feel of the smooth wood or metal of the needles in your hands. The dance of string around fingers and needle as you first cast on your project and then proceed to embody it with simple weaving and looping of string. I love to explore the experience of knitting an object stitch by stitch, it is an intense and obsessive process. I see knitting as a building process, as if I were constructing a house brick by brick. However, unlike brick laying knitting is a much more cohesive process where each stitch is interconnected, if one stitch should come unraveled chances are all of them will.

Knitting has become such a huge part of my life, that when I was going to set up this account originally, I thought that it would be very strange to set up an account for personal pictures only and then set up an account for knit related things. I may not end up having as many pictures of knitted projects as I would like because I find that I don't really like some of them sometimes but they are certainly going to be included in the day to day so I might as well make it work.
