Photography has been magic for me since I started to think. Actually it was in my early childhood that my father took me to the darkroom and showed my how the image appears in the developper bath.

Seeing is an activity of the mind. With photography I can give this mental process a material shape. Through my image collection I hope to explore the "gestalt" of my visual mind. Therefore photography is an act of communication. Like any other form of communication it is inherently and inevitably a way of self-expression. By accepting this inherent relationship, I try to pursue photography as a form of art.

Well, just like many others, I guess. But this is what fascinates and motivates me to keep learning in this art form. With every single shot. Still a long way ahead, before others can see my fascination in my shots. Never mind.

My idol in photography is Ansel Adams, whose books taught me the fundamentals of photographic technique. The photographers who inspire me most are Walker Evans, Ed Ruscha, William Eggleston and Stephen Shore.

In 2002, after many years without taking pictures, I come back to photography with digital image taking, initially with a Canon Powershot S45, today I own a Canon Ixus75 and a Olympus XZ-1. My first DSLR was a Nikon D200 which was a game changer for me got me back to being an active photographer. When Nikon released full-frame cameras, I upgraded to a D3 which I shot for 4 years and have sold in the meantime. Today I own a D600 and use it as my main camera.
