Hello, my name is Kjell, and I live in the city of Trondheim in central Norway. My hometown is Tromsø in the northern part of the country. I grew up to love the outdoors, and developed early a passion for fishing. The interest in photography came later in life, and after I got my first digital camera in 2005 (a Canon Powershot S2 IS), photography has gradually grown into a much valued hobby. Today I use a Nikon D90 and a Nikon D3 along with zoom lenses covering the range from 10 mm to 300 mm.
I feel privileged to live in a country that is so rich in photographic opportunities for the landscape photographer with its steep mountains, its numerous rivers and lakes, and its long and unspoilt coastline. Then there is the light, which is so fundamental to all photography. Up here in the north, light undergoes major variations throughout the year. It is a constant challenge trying to capture some of this ever-changing nature of light with your camera, and at the same time attempt to tell a story through your pictures.
Naturally, most of my photographic activity is concentrated to my hometown area in northern Norway and to my current location here in central Norway, but I also spend many weekends in Jämtland in Sweden, where my family have a mountain cabin. I also try to bring my camera on travels and vacations abroad. Apart from photography, the passion for fishing, and in particular fly fishing for trout and char has stayed with me since my childhood days.
