Photography from the Prairie Undine. The undine region is the term Joseph Nicollet gave to Des Moine glacial till plain of southern Minnesota, where glaciers formed a vast assemblage of wetlands. The landscape was covered in water and Nicollet made the association with the undine, which are described as water elementals from ancient Greek mythology. Today over 90% of the wetlands have been drained and 90-95% of the region has been converted into intensive agricultural use. Due to this land-use, the region is often looked at as a baren-waste. I hope my photography can show the beauty and resilience of the natural landscape that still exists in this region, even if it is only a fraction.
