Hello, Welcome to my Flickr page.

I have enjoyed gardening and plants in general since I was newly married, many years ago and my interest has continued to grow ever since then. I was a founding member of the Wanganui African Violet and Gesneriad Club, which enjoyed many successful years, and 3 of us trained as Afrian Violet Judges for our Shows. I also trained as a Gesneriad judge as I am very keen on them also and used to grow a good range of the plants, in particular mini Sinningias and a few others.

Sadly the Club ended a few years ago from lack of younger active members living in Wanganui.

Before having a hiatus from growing, I dabbled a little in hybridising and raised some lovely variegated mini and sem-mini Afircan Violets, here in Hamilton.

Currently I am putting a nice new collection together, mostly names are unknown as it is difficult to obltain good quality named varieties in NZ, even now. But the ones I have so far are beautiful and flowering well, most are Optimaras which of course are robust and so well-suited to our cooler NZ conditions.

Lately I haven't taken any photos but I intend to fix that as soon as I can and will put some more up here.
