Mr. Clay led the NAACP’s political work as the National Civic Engagement Director. In that capacity, he was responsible for developing and implementing the political research, advocacy and training agenda. Kirk served as Vice Chair of the Census Bureau’s CIC Steering Committee. The mission of the CIC program is to provide data on demographic, economic, and social statistics. Prior to that, Mr. Clay managed the national Presidential Primary Program for PowerPAC. He led a ten million dollar effort in ‘07/’08. Kirk was the Director of Outreach at Common Cause as well. He was responsible for promoting election reform, ethics, and government accountability. Mr. Clay was Deputy Director of NCBCP, where he managed the day-to day overall operation. Before joining NCBCP Mr. Clay was a Deputy Director for People For the American Way's field department. In 1997, he developed the African American Ministers Leadership Council. Before that, he was a lead administrator for the DNC Campaign Training Academy. He is a former White House intern and has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. He lives in Washington, DC with his wife and three children.
