I'm a Chicago based artist that works primarily with stencils and spray paint. I don't use Adobe Photoshop or illustrator to help with my layers. They are all cut by me independently of any computer assistance. I consider myself , "the hardest working artist in Chicago." This year alone I've made and sold over 150 works of original art. No screen prints or giclee prints.
The street is my gallery. It is a crime to sell art in Chicago city limits but I set up illegal impromptu art shows anyway. I use a modified laundry cart on street corners all over Crook County, Chicago selling my art.
I've been doing stencil art since 1986 and the 1st evidence of my work is a mural I worked on with Keith Haring.
Stencil art doesn't properly describe my art because lately I've used that medium as a jumping off point and am working more at deconstruction and an introduction of cubism into my work. I didn't really do my 1st proper painting until June 2009. Stencils are just a tool towards an original and exciting vision not seen anywhere else in the United States.
I'm taking stencils and using them to create a world and landscape all my own. An artist should push himself to use his imagination to create a universe from his mind. A true painter's responsibility is to develop his own visual vocabulary that stands the test of time. Have I succeeded? I don't know. Am I full of shit? Most definitely!
