Stereo photographs mimic 3D human vision by showing the subject from two slightly different points of view. I got my first digital camera in 2002, and have been shooting 3D since 2005.
Not my blog, but it gives a good description on how to view stereo images.

I have a Fuji W3, a GoPro Hero3+Black DHS (the underwater photos,) a pair of Canon Rebel XT's synched through the remote port, (in desperate need of being upgraded,) and a couple of retired point-and-shoot finger-synched rigs. Also, probably a full third of my stereos are cha-chas taken with the BEST camera, which is the one I have on hand. Therefore, I usually go for flagship Samsung phones, which come with good cameras. - seriously, the S23 Ultra is probably the best camera I've ever owned. (Update, as of July 2023, I have a pair of Canon R10's synched through the remote port, and they're pretty great!)
