“It was a bit odd after the accident. adults would look askance, but kids were amazed. They cuoldn’t look away. I’ve always been a kid person. So I had an idea…”

Jay’s idea is clearly worth more than a thousand words in his new company Kidparazzi. Despite the loss of an arm and a leg after a 2006 train accident, Jay’s never been busier. “The kids are almost as intrigued by me as I am by them. And once we establish this mutual admiration, it’s off to the potato sack races, or the playground, or the ice cream shop, wherever the kids Jay is shooting feel most themselves.”

Jay is adamant about not posing kids or forcing them into uncomfortable outfits or scenarios. “I believe my ability as a photographer lies simply in creating the right environment and finding those slivers of time where the child owns the moment.” Or as the Kidparazzi tagline states, that unique space ‘Where every child is a star.’
