Purely a hobby photographer, I started out in my teens with an Olympus 35SP rangefinder film camera - which has long since been lost. When the Formula One Grand Prix came to Adelaide Australia in 1985 I borrowed a friends SLR camera, I then purchased an Olympus OM40 SLR and a range of lenses. Later processing film became too expensive for me so the hobby became a backseat passenger. When DSLR's started to appear in the mid 2000's I visited a local Camera store and purchased a Pentax K100d which was replaced soon after with a K10d, then K7, K5 and finally a K3. Becoming tired of the performance of my long lens for birding photography I noticed Nikon had released the 200-500 f5.6 in 2016 and getting rave reviews. I sold off some of the Pentax gear to acquire the Nikkor lens and a used D7100, later in 2016 I purchased a D500 and I'm now hooked. UPDATE 2022 I have gone full circle and added an Olympus (OM Systems) OM-1 and several lenses to my kit. The hobby is not all consuming for me but having retired a couple of years ago I find it a great pastime driving/ walking in country areas looking for birds and other interesting items to photograph. These photos are a growing selection of what I have recorded.
