It's people like him who contribute to Flickr still being as unique as no other platform out there: Millions of similar photos and countless repeating groups, but in between sparkle these inspiring pearls, which cause you to waste nights over nights in front of the screen and which are the reason why you never leave the house without a camera. Kev has the matching jewel cases for those, collects them for you and polishes them with his own poetry. Did I mention that Kev put a lot of these gems in there by himself? Ho avuto modo di conoscere Kevin prima tramite le sue foto, qui su Flickr. Poi fortuitamente le ho riconosciute, quelle stesse foto, durante una manifestazione fotografica e ho potuto conoscerlo anche di persona. Ho un debole per le visioni geometriche e astratte che Kevin riesce a produrre, alcuni accostamenti sono frutto di un paziente e istruito lavoro di osservazione. E' bello vedere come anche nel comune di ogni giorno "vivano" immagini interessanti, che non tutti sono abituati a vedere. Un plauso per il suo intenso lavoro! :)

questo fotografo, che non conosco personalmente, ha avuto la capacità di farmi riscoprire la mia città attraverso i suoi occhi. La città che lui presenta ed è capace di fermare nelle sue immagini, la mia città, è quella tante volte sognata, fantasticata o forse solo appena qualche volta intravvista nella rielaborazione della fantasia. Un cumulo di nuvole, un riflesso nell'acqua una geometria trascurata perchè ritenuta troppo rigida per poter essere apprezzata o anche solo osservata. Kev Byrne, invece, ha pazienza, osserva il mondo intorno a se e decide cosa cogliere e come catturare e finisce sempre per proporre all'attenzione immagini ricche di grande fascino e valore. il fascino della sintesi grafica ed il valore del colore naturale. la sua rielaborazione è solo mentale, il risultato stimolante. grazie.

I'm here on a prediction. Which I'm just about to make come true! My records show Kev became one of my flickr friends in January, 2009... we did the usual thing, posting pix and commenting politely, and then one day Kev took a liking to one of my pix and singlehandedly drummed up over 100 comments in a few days. I was damned impressed! And started to pay more attention to my benefactor's photostream. I was immediately thrust into a bifurcated world of superbly seen archi shots, dripping with colour and cast in composition, and a magically emotional world of black & white portraits of his two beautiful -- and photogenic -- children. It was entertaining and instructional. Suddenly I found myself looking at rooftops. But that was just the start. It didn't take long before he organized his first group -- I Leica You Like You Leica Me -- which has grown to be one of the best collections of artsy, non-cliche pix on flickr, and more recently with Flair and Square, another fun group with fantastic photos. Lately Kev has gone full explorer mode into the land of macro, but basically, regardless of what theme or genre attracts his attention, what he sees is unique, full of thought, life, and his wonderfully animated personality. Little wonder his shots have received local recognition in his home town of Taranto, Italy, where he's won three competitions (at last count)! When the prints dry, Kev's been a great inspiration to me, and a great flickr friend... I invite you to enjoy his terrific collection of photographs.
