I'm now well in to the "old git" phase of my life. Up to the arrival of my own children, I hardly ever took pictures of people, I would photograph anything that looked like it would make a good picture. I still do that now, but with 5 married children and 10 grandchildren, the focus of my photography, purely as a hobby, changed to being the family archivist. I get a lot of pleasure looking back at all my thousands of digital photos on rolling screensaver on my computer and I'm now starting to upload these to Flickr, and after a recent hip replacement I'm planning to get out and about again, and start doing more than just "garden safari" and "armchair" photography. My showcase will probably evolve as I upload more pictures and browse through them to see what becomes public in my photostream. At the time of making this update, Oct 2026, I've uploaded 2003 - 2011 photos. My first SLR camera was a Zenit-B purchased sometime in the mid 1970's . No built-in light meter, the closest you got was the table that came with each roll of film and my memory. My last SLR was the Pentax ME Super. How things have changed, especially since buying my first digital camera back in 2003. That was a Nikon Coolpix E3100. Since then it's been Canon all the way through a variety of bridge cameras (Canon S2, SX20 & SX50) before buying my first DSLR in 2015 (Canon 750D). Next it was a Canon 90D before buying a Canon R7 in 2025.
