I am a digital journalist, newsroom leader and digital media start-up advisor. I have worked on staff and as a digital transformation leader at the BBC and The Guardian, and Gannett.
I have been relentlessly driving towards the future of journalism and media since the mid-90s. I became the BBC's first online journalist outside of the US in 1998. I became The Guardian's first blogs editor in 2006. In 2010, my wife, Suw, and I started our own global media consultancy. I worked with Al Jazeera during the Arab Spring, helping support their social media efforts. Suw and I helped launch the ground breaking digital news service Firstpost.com in India. I also worked for the Media Development Investment Fund, helping their local news clients in emerging and frontier markets transition to digital.
I am also on the Eurovision Academy training faculty. I have done data journalism and multi-platform management training for them. I also do data journalism training for WAN-IFRA.
In my spare time, I play trombone, explore the world's wild places and cook.
