When I was young I always loved Photography.
The first Camera I owned was the one I talked my Brother in law out of. Well, actually, I borrowed it so much it kinda became mine...:O)
Anyway, it was an Olympus OM-1.
I did allot of bartering, trading and begging to scrounge up Darkroom equipment and I was off!
I loved Black and White Photography more or less because it was all I could afford, plus it captures details that Color Photography just misses.
Like allot of People living out West I was a huge fan of Ansel Adams so allot of my first Rolls of Film where pitiful attempts at Landscape.
Through the Years I traded up and got an Olympus OM-2s with some nice Lenses but then Adulthood came knocking and Life took me in another direction.
Especially after I had my Camera equipment stolen by a so called Friend who hocked it for some Weekend party Money...
I got into Trucking and for the next 21 Years I lived my life on the Road until I got hurt in Dec of 2006 and became disabled.
After failed Back surgery and constant pain my Trucking career was over.
Now I'm trying to re-invent myself at 45.
I had a Canon Powershot S1 for a while but didn't really get the spark of Photography so to speak until about 4 Months ago.
I went out and purchased an Olympus SP-570UZ and since then the old Flame has flared up inside me once again.
I can't get too carried away from the pain my stupid Back puts me in and I can't steady a Camera like I used to, but thanks to the SP-570's excellent stabilization system I can do Telephoto as well as Macro without using a Tripod and a Monopod is just about all I need for longer exposures.
With Time on my Hands and not being the kind of Person who can stay put for very long this injury is really trying to change my life for the worse but I'll not go down without a fight!
Stick around, things might get interesting...
Update:
Today, April 27 2009 the adoption of my step Daughter went to Court and was approved!
Now our Family can put allot behind us and look forward towards the future with brighter Eyes.
