Rebvs (Kent Yoshimura) was born in Nagoya, Japan in 1988 and raised in Los Angeles where he currently resides. While focusing on a degree in Cognitive Science at the University of California, San Diego, he competed internationally in martial arts, fighting alongside Muay Thai champions in Thailand and training Judo with Olympic medalists at the Kodokan and the Japanese Imperial guards inside the Kokyo (Imperial Palace). Yet his true passion had been within the arts, and he followed that calling after his short film Thousand Cranes was selected at the UCSD Student Film Festival.
Throughout his professional career, Rebvs has directed content for global brands such as McDonald’s, Lego, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, AT&T, Benjamin Moore, Ford, and many others. As an artist, he illustrated Master Davey and The Magic Tea House, which was released worldwide at all Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf locations, and his illustration Lion Lake Lyin’ can be seen alongside artists such as Brian Selznick, Mo Willems, and Ezra Jack Keats travelling across children’s museums.
Rebvs now focuses primarily on expanding his art into galleries and public venues.
