I greatly enjoy being in the field shooting landscape photos. I'm not a professional, even though I have occasionally shot commercial photos. I do not enjoy editing photos, yet I do edit my photos, mostly in a basic fashion. I do follow some professionals and watch webinars and videos on photo editing and composition, so maybe with time I might do more in-depth edits. I consider getting interesting compositions my main target in photography. Sometimes I succeed, many times not so much. My main fear with editing is that I might over do the edits and give a false impression of the way the world actually looks. I have submitted some of my better photos for professional critique and the professionals usually suggest and demonstrate more advanced editing to create a more artistic result, which in my mind can be corrupting the reality of the photographed scene. I'm not opposed to such editing for professional photographers creating works of art that might go beyond reality, but I'm less inclined to spend great amounts of time with such processes in my amateur status.

While I want to work towards being a more artistic photographer, I do not subscribe to the philosophy that every photo that I post for public viewing has to be my best work. Sometimes a photo might just depict the way things are with all the warts, imperfections, imperfect lighting and distractions. Yet, I try to minimize the presentation of my really bad photos and I do make those too frequently.

Thanks to all that follow my posts on Flickr and my blog, kenstravelphoto.com. I appreciate comments and critiques of my photos, which inspire me to continue this hobby and push me to create better images.

I post a few images to Instagram as kenkemp76 and kenkemp4624. I have a blog site at kenstravelphoto.com and I'm just beginning to post on Substack as KenKemp650.substack.com.
