Melbourne Photographer Ken Myers: When I encounter scenery and decide to photograph it, I don't want to reproduce a snapshot of what lay before me; rather, I capture what I perceive to be there, a somewhat surreal landscape that stirs my emotions, and hopefully rouses the emotions of the viewer of the finished artwork, and transports them to a surreal place. To me, this is what separates a snapshot from fine art. A snapshot generally holds the viewers attention for a brief moment; whereas fine art absorbs the viewer imagination, rouses their emotions and feelings, and transports them to an imaginary surreal place, and draws (engaging) them back to the artwork over and over again.
