A northern Alberta transplant! I live and work in Lac La Biche Alberta and absolutely love the area...so much bush, so many lakes, such incredible sun sets.

Formerly from Southern Alberta where I spent my childhood and most of my adult life. It still pulls at me, the coulees around Lethbridge, the bridge, the freestone flowing rivers and those amazing wild trout that I chased for years at the end of a fly rod. Nothing better than going for a drive into the mountains with a fly rod and a camera.

Anyhow, I have been taking pictures for many years. So many years using a Minolta, shooting primarily fuji chrome slides....and now...wow....totally enjoying the digital life....what an incredible freedom to shoot, process and even print your own shots.

I believe photography is art and as such, post processing is an integral and essential part of the process of creating YOUR vision. Nothing beats a incredibly thought out shot with excellent light, POV, composition, framing, DOF, and exposure. However, taking that wonderful shot and further working with light, colours, layers, dodging, burning, perhaps filters and second party labs....that is where the photo transforms even further into the vision of the artist. The camera, filters, lights, flashes, tripods, reflectors, photoshop, topaz, lightroom and the other softwares--they are all TOOLS that we as photographers and artists use to create our masterpieces - hence my screen name - "LIGHT SHIFT"
