Former Professional photographer (many years ago) now getting into digital work and loving it.
I've lived in Geyserville, Northern California, New Mexico, and New York City over my lifetime and feel a special bond to New Mexico.
Now living in Albuquerque, NM but I hope to travel to the Mojave and Sonoran deserts frequently (winters, in my travel trailer.)
I'm new to digital photography but am learning the necessary techniques. I am really impressed by HDR techniques and use them when the occasion suits. I don't like overdone HDR unless it is particularly fitting to the subject at hand.
My favorite subject is landscape photography, but I shoot whatever appeals to me - night shots, urban scene, people (occasionally,) or anything else that catches my attention or interest. Currently, I am focusing on the Still Life genre as I have been away from it for far too long.
I have been using some texture just recently in my still life works, primarily as background enhancements. Photos which are basically no more than texture with some sort of image beneath it are a distinct turn-off for me.
I definitely believe that there is such a thing as too much texture. And, it is my opinion that application of texture is no way to save a poor image. Forget it!
