Artist's Statement

I'm very passionate about photography and each photo I shoot I take pride in knowing I've done my best with it. When I'm thinking about shooting a photo, I try to think about how the viewer will see it. My goal is to help see people notice the little things in life that they normally would overlook. If I can help someone to see something in a new way, then I consider myself successful.

About Me

I have been interested in photography for as long as I can remember although I didn't really take it seriously until July 2006. Since then I have started working toward a degree in photography as well as starting my own business. While both are slow going, I'm enjoying every minute of the journey to the big leagues.

In Decemeber 2006, my work was featured on CNN as part of CNN's iReport project. The shot, which can be seen here was taken during the ice storm that hit the midwest with a fury. After recieving a call at 7am, I was excited to learn that CNN used my photo on their website, as well as on a brief clip that aired that evening. Although they didn't pay, they sent me a lovely shirt that reads: "i Report for CNN".

I used to consider myself a nature photographer since that was primarily the main subject of all my photos. After shooting just nature for nearly three years, I've gotten pretty tired of it. This is what prompted me to begin the 365 Day Project. I'm having a blast trying and learning new things. While I was apprehensive at first about taking pictures of myself, I'm really glad I decided to be bold and give it a try.
