My name is Katie Bulmer and I am currently studying Applied Art & Design and English Lang/Lit at Woking College. Art has always been a passion for me but once I reached GCSE stage in year 10, I knew I wanted to per sue art as a career. Frequent lessons, working with fellow art-lovers and visiting galleries with my secondary school really made me indulge in all the art and design that surrounded me. I enjoy anything art orientated such as drawing, photography, using Photoshop and going to Life Drawing classes at my college. I love to experiment with new techniques that I learn and a good way to develop my techniques was when I designed a poster and products for the Woking College Summer Art Exhibition 2012 for my graphic design project. This is an exhibition we held every year at The Lightbox Gallery, Woking where we present our work we have produced during the year to the public. This gave me professional experience as I worked with the marketing department at Woking College and I started to learn what was needed to create a clear, legible yet interesting layout for my poster and products. This also led me to re-design the course leaflets for the art department at my college too.

Another interesting work experience was with a sculptor called Richard Ian Heys. He came to our class and we produced ideas for a sculpture that will be in Woking based upon lyrics by 'The Jam'. This helped me to develop sculpting skills and I liked the experience of experimenting with a media that I haven't really used before.

In the future, I would like to do a foundation course in order to help me understand completly which path I would like to take in art. I would also love to develop my skills further and I am always interested to learn new things that I haven't tried before. I especially have interests in graphic design, illustration and fashion.
