I've followed Brian's chase for the ever-elusive photon these last several years, across multiple venues, and have borne witness to his own, unique "Decisive Moment" germinating, taking root, giving flower and, most recently, sprouting wings and taking to the air. His concert photography in particular shows an uncanny ability to both be an active participant in the experience (which translates into energy and emotion), and to maintain a certain respectful, documentary distance, the better to give his subjects free reign to live and breathe in the eternal, exclamatory THIS IS! of the captured moment. Yet even in quieter, more subdued scenes, he's able to tease out a subtle power from under the fabric of the everyday; he makes you rethink your own eyes had you seen the same. In his images, all Seeing is a deep Questioning.
