Originally from Lincolnshire, England, I moved to Canada in '95 'for a couple of years' and I'm still here, living in Vancouver, British Columbia.

I've always enjoyed taking photos but felt photography would be a hobby I could never really afford. Thankfully digital photography came along and, since receiving my first ever SLR camera for Christmas in 2005 (thanks to my husband), I haven't looked back. Since I had no clue how to use an SLR camera, I did a few courses to get me started and I'm still learning every day.

These days (2023), I shoot with a Nikon Z5 and my more spontaneous (or back-up) shots are taken with my iPhone.

As an avid amateur/hobby photographer I try to get out there and practise whenever I can. The more I photograph, the more I see and appreciate about even the smallest details in the world around me. I'll happily lose myself for hours behind the lens. My preferences are landscapes, macro photography (especially flowers), animals, travel, old buildings, line/texture (rust and peeling paint especially) pattern, and ...well, basically anything that catches my eye. In recent years I've ventured a little beyond my usual comfort zone and have attempted more abstract and creative images. I wish I could enjoy portrait photography more but I get so nervous doing it that I generally avoid it but endeavour to capture candid portraits sometimes. I'll try a portrait shot if I'm sure you're not looking but otherwise, it's honestly NOT my forte.

I might play around with some images in LR or Nik Collection but am quite useless at photoshop, hence my photos are largely untouched except for occasional cropping, improved contrast, and maybe conversion to B/W - or purposeful attempts at artistic/wacky processing.
