I must say, now more than ever I realize how much of a journey this photography thing really is. It really can test you. If you really love it, it can take you there and back and really take you on introspective journeys untold. Godspeed and heaven help us...

The truth of the matter is that photography has swallowed me whole, permeating just about every aspect of my life. No matter where I am, what I am doing or experiencing, the thought of being able to capture that moment is always on my mind. It has allowed me to rediscover my emotional and creative side, which has rekindled hope that I had as a child. The hope and belief that I can achieve anything I wanted to as long as I believed in it and created from the heart.
It is therapeutic.
Promotions, bonuses, salary increases, recognition - all meaningless unless you actually care about what you are doing. Photography has given me so much more. I realise that fiscal achievement doesn’t mean much at all and is - dare I say - a tad shallow and materialistic.
It is fulfilling.
One of the things that I love about the world of photography is the sense of community – it allows you to connect with people. While many of the old school photographers may abhor the changes that technology has brought to the art, it cannot be argued that the advent of digital photography and online sharing medium have enabled shutterbugs and pros to be inspired by work from all over the globe. Surely there was always a sense of community with photography, but the world has become so much smaller and I believe that you can learn at least something from everyone. That is a basic life lesson that I live by which goes hand-in-hand with being a modest student of life.
It is humbling.
Aside from the inspiration, it has also served as an education medium and a way for people to get to know others who share similar interests - photography related or not - thus improving the overall human experience. Grow or die, and I choose to grow.
I love photography.

I came across KatoKay's photos as a result of a comment he left maybe, or in some other "flickr" way that you end up finding people. I like the way he has a mix of "art" photos and simply personal family shots. It's also refreshing to find a Londoner here on Flickr. I liked a lot of KatoKay's shots, and in particular he has a few interesting takes on Trafalgar Square, which has to be one of the most photograhed places in London!
