It is thanks to my father and my grandmother that photography became an integral part of life for me. I was for a long time blind to other families not documenting their lives, not using the camera as a tool to hold onto the ephemeral beauty of the natural world or attempting to stop time, to hold on to loved ones as long as possible. Still more recently it dawned on me that the way we celebrated viewing a freshly developed and framed roll of slides, huddled together to see the projection, really was quite extraordinary. Not only did we relive our memories this way; we also talked about what made a particular photo effective. I owe them the world. Much of my self-confidence, my curiosity, my love of nature, my way of seeing the world and my memories of it growing up stem from them. KIITOS. Thanks also to those who have pushed me to surpass my limits. You know who you are.
