I use point-and-shoot cameras that don't last long. They hit the hard floor of a bathroom or even a submarine (happened once) because they slip out of my pocket. Dust quickly gets into the lenses from hiking into dry desert-like areas. I'm lucky if a camera lasts more than a year before I donate it to a thrift shop for recycling.

 

When I was in middle school, I used to go with my navy dad to the on-base photo lab where you could develop your own black-and-white photos. Remember when you had to buy film for your camera? I took a lot of pictures of mountains then, but always being disappointed because I couldn't quite capture the feelings that made me want to take a picture of them in the first place.
