A technical note for the sleep-deprived: pictures are meant to be viewed with a web standard display gamma of 2.2. You can quickly check if your monitor is properly calibrated and, if you are willing to put some effort to it, calibrate your monitor yourself using QuickGamma.

Photos are usually taken in RAW, converted with Canon DPP and then slightly edited with digital darkroom type manipulations.
