Hey. I’m Jaclyn Smith, a Mount Gambier based photographer, artist, dog worshiper (well my dog) with a crazy love for loud heavy music!

I’m a self taught photographer, learning through my mistakes (lol) every day. I doubt I will ever go to school to be ‘taught’ photography, the reason I love it so much is because I can make each image mine. Not what someone has taught me is right. So why ruin it with school?

I have always had a passion for photography. That and Art were the only classes in school I payed any attention in. However these days drawing and painting just frustrates me. I can never get the picture perfect to look like what I see in my mind. But with a photo I capture what I see! So not as much frustration.

Not once have I ever lost interest in capturing a moment to be remembered.Taking photos of whatever, whenever I can – I’m hardly seen without my camera.

Over the last year I have been ‘kapturing’ images of live music for friends. I have covered a few local events, and love nothing more then standing up front of a live gig taking photos of the band and taking it all in. My main aim when taking photos of musicians, is for you to look at the image, and ‘feel’ the music. Along with the live images, I would love to do promotional images for musicians.

I also have a crack at portraits, and specialise in black and white images. I love the raw emotion you can see in a black and white image. I know a lot of photographers (or non photographers) will turn an image black and white and think, viola! instant art piece. Me, I edit away trying to bring the emotion and details out as much as I can.

Then there are the thousands of images of my child, my sidekick, the best friend I could ever hope for, Shadow the Border Collie! No doubt his beautiful smiling face will pop up from time to time.

I’m always having a go at something different, so there will be images across a wide range of subjects, but mostly live music. Enjoy!
