I'm writing this because I owe Kane one, I mean...he's very good!! Yeah that's it! In all seriousness, Kane and I have shot many many many sunrises, sunsets, moons and star trails - and have driven many many kilometres in search of great shots, getting looks of disapproval from our partners, missing dinners, sleeping in stupidly hot tents, quoting Peter Lik for pep talks for a 5 hour trip and laughing ourselves crazy - anything to get that shot. His eye form composition is much quicker than mine these days, whereas I'm wondering around looking dumbfounded looking for that shot, he's already got it - or I'm lucky and I find it just a little further along and he comes and nabs it better! (Then I run back to get what he got, only better because the light changed and vice versa!). All good - all good in the pursuit of moving our photography forward. I used to be jealous of his shots to all degree - but now I see a distinct difference in our styles. Where I am more of a traditionalist, he is more of a surrealist. Does that make sense? Probably not!

Kane was one of the first photographers that I discovered soon after joining the flickr community. Kane was one of the first photographers that I discovered soon after joining the flickr community. His style & the way he goes about capturing an image is what inspires me to get out & look for that shot that gives you shivers up the spine. Although I've never met him, in the time that Kane has been a contact of mine I've seen him married, start a family & change jobs all the while continuing to encourage others in the field of photography. So thanks Kane & all the best for the future mate!! I was viewing Kane's photos before I even took up photography as a hobby & joined Flickr almost a year ago. His talent & passion for his craft really shines. I find his photos awe inspiring & I always look forward to his downloads. The really neat thing about Kane is that he is willing to share his knowledge & passion with anyone. Not only by encouraging comments on here but also out in the field. I know my own photography has profitted by his generousity. Kane is not just a flickr "contact" he is a good friend. Kane Gledhill is one of the most versatile and consistently awe inspiring photographers that I have ever crossed paths with. His work frequently makes me question if I too deserve to be labeled as a photographer, as if somehow stating that I share even a fraction of the same shear talent that he projects on a daily basis. The art that Kane creates is leagues beyond that of my own and he serves as a wonderful inspiration for everything that I hope to be as a photographer. In the past, people have told me that there is "no such thing as a perfect photo". That argument ends here.
