I am a self-taught photographer, who seeks to capture the stories that everyday life tells.

I was born in Seoul, Korea, but spent my adolescence in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, then moved to New Orleans for post secondary education. I spent 13+ years in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina forced me to move, and have now settled in Vancouver.

Like my background, my photography is diverse. I don’t bind myself to any particular subject matter nor to any specific technique. I enjoy shooting a wide variety of themes; from portrait to abstract. By not limiting myself to any one style, I am free to tell a story through my photographs. For me, subject matter and techniques are only means to an end, which is to tell the story.

I find the medium of photography fascinating. Photography may often capture only a small window in time, but I can use that window to tell a story, a story about the subject, a story about the setting, the mood, the people and atmosphere.

In all my photographs, I try to capture the essence of the story; visual Cliff Notes of life (Coles Notes for all the Canadians).
