It is about freaking time that I got around to writing you a testimonial. First of all, Kelly, you have been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. You are one of the most amazing people I know, you are brave, talented, fun, compassionate, loving, passionate, and the list goes on and on. I have also sat back and watched you grow like crazy with your photography, and I remember when we first started our photo expeditions to the country, and look, here we are still doing the same thing, except we go to the country a lot less, mostly because we are lazy and gravitate towards Reynolda Gardens. But I am rambling. I just wish I had words right now to describe how much you have meant to me in my life. I love you so much, Kel, and the Lord has wonderful things in store for you and your talent. Kelly Hall is an amazing young art student who came into my photography one class this past August. I usually dread it when a senior signs up for Photo I as it normally means they are looking for an “easy” class. Analog film photography is not always easy. You have to learn how to operate the camera’s aperture, shutter speed, etc., load and develop the film and then many, many layers of technical as well as artistic techniques in the darkroom printing processes. It is not an immediate process it takes talent, patience, vision and time. . . Kelly possesses all of these qualities in abundance. She has been a pure joy in my life since she entered the classroom. I felt an immediate bond with her and we speak the same language – seeking new creative visions and she pushes herself beyond a normal first year student. I kid her and tell her she is a rising star . . . but I am not kidding it is an earnest fact. I have been an art educator for 31 years and have been blessed with many talented students and Kelly now belongs in those elite ranks. I look forward to seeing her bright future in the years ahead and hope that she keeps me posted as she continues to grow in leaps and bounds!
