I live in Melbourne, Australia and was smitten by the orchid bug over 40 years ago. I am only really interested in species and have a medium sized collection of about 800 Australian and "exotic" species. I have recently started growing the more challenging Australian terrestrial orchids. Not very successfully I might add.
I love going "bush" in Australia and also travelling overseas looking for orchids to photograph in situ. Borneo is one of my favourite places and I have now travelled there 5 times looking for and photographing orchids in the jungles. I have been to some amazing places (Mt Kinabalu, Poring, Mt Alab, Mt Trus Madi and in particular Long Pasia in Sabah and Mulu, Bario and Kuching/Bau in Sarawak.) I am planning my next trip back to Borneo scheduled for 2027.
I was in Costa Rica in 2009 where I was fortunate to be able to spend 3 days in the jungles and rain forests looking for and photographing orchids. Can't wait to go back.
Flickr is a great place to meet people of like interests and I am receiving more invitations each month to visit with people who I have met through this photo share site. Can't wait to meet all of them in person.
As mentioned, I also love travelling and here are the countries I have visited:
