I started out teaching in the community college system when I was 19. I had the privilege of travel and a private education while growing up which gave me a different outlook on life. I loved old folk art and could not understand why I was on an island!
Growing up in High Point, NC, which was the Furniture Capital at the time, I realized I had a lot to offer in that arena. My artwork was in Country Living Magazine, Furniture Today, Gumps, Smithsonian, and the cover of Dulcimer Player Magazine. I did hand painted furniture for many furniture companies. Then NAFTA took away the jobs in the US.
I went back to teaching, which I did not mind, Teaching is such a rewarding experience! I feel like I have a talent for that and taught for another 13 years. Then budget cuts? Really?
I now work at an office desk job!
I have always had an interest in photography. I was more interested in catching candid moments rather than having everyone smiling at the camera. I got into scrap booking and rubber stamping which causes a lot of clutter and expense. When I discovered digital art I felt like I found my niche!
