Paul “Junkykid” Afong Jr. was born in Hawaii, then quickly transplanted in Minnesota. He has studied design and illustration at The College of Visual Arts in St. Paul, Minnesota. He currently resides in Minneapolis.

JunkyKid has worked in Minneapolis for the last 15 years as a graphic designer and has worked on brands such as General Mills, ConAgra Foods, Nabisco, Kraft Foods, St. Paul Pioneer Press, UnitedHealthcare, Moog Music, Yamaha, AKG Acoustics, Audio-Technica, Roland, Shure and Vic Firth just to name a few.

JunkyKid’s urban cartoon style art is a steady stream of strange and wacky characters that all come together in the end. Using found objects like discarded cardboard, wood and a variety of paper as his canvas, gives his work an organic quality and a sense of whimsy. He has shown and sold his artwork in galleries and online to people all over the world.
