My name is Jo, (short for Joann...pronounced like "Joanne", not "Joan"), I'm 30 and live in Brisbane, Australia.

Really enjoyed doing b/w photography in highschool, and have loved taking photos ever since, but only in recent years have I really done it enough to consider myself a "photographer" (stricktly amateur). Until the end of last year, I'd been using a Ricoh SLR to take my "real" photos, (still got half a roll of film in it that needs finishing), and an old, 2MP Kodak for everything else. I can't really afford a DSLR, so I got the next best thing which is a P&S which can be used with all manual controls, my trusty little Canon Powershot A570IS.

I developed a great appreciation for abstract photography through the work of my favourite actor Viggo Mortensen, who is also a great photographer, (painter and poet). It was his photos that inspired me to slow down those shutter speeds and spin the camera around every now and then to see what I can come up with.
