I live in Northern California in the USA.
My book, "Portrait Revolution", featuring 450 portraits by 200 artists of the Julia Kay's Portrait Party flickr group was published 4/2017 in the USA and UK. You can find it on Amazon or most places books are sold.
For three years, I drew a picture of myself every day, and I self-published a book of the first year of this Daily Portrait Project. It can be found here:

When my Daily Portrait Project ended, I started Julia Kay's Portrait Party (JKPP), an international collaboration of artists making portraits of each other.
I continue to draw or paint every day (though I usually miss 5-10 days/year), and support my art habit as a programmer and data analyst in the field of public health. I train seriously in Aikido, a Japanese martial art. I'm also a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique, which allows you to do everything you already do, from staring at your computer, to training in a sport, with greater poise and ease, less pain, and less likelihood of injury.

The meetings with Julia have been wonderful. The party speaks for itself, a simple concept that has caught the imagination of so many from around the world. Julia has carried the responsibility and organisation of this group, which alone could be a full time job! That she thrives and explores other aspects of the visual arts with a particular emphasis on iPad art and digital is to her credit. Thank you Julia for giving so much to so many.

Julia wears many hats ~ and wears them all so well! At first she impressed me with her self portrait project ~ such perseverance & variety! Then came the portrait party!! As our hostess, she constantly amazes me with her ability to connect & inspire artists from around the world, building a community that reaches far beyond the internet & flickr. Julia's willingness to share her artwork & processes has enriched my world in so many ways. I highly recommend spending time in her stream, where you'll get to know the natural born teacher, extraordinary artist, & generous spirit, that is Julia! Julia ~ Thank you so much for everything!!!

The resident genius and inventer of THE PORTRAIT PARTY and an endlessly unpredictablee, brash, smiling trickster of an artist in her own right, Julia sometimes reminds me of Don Juan, the trickster-sorcerer in Carlos Castaneda's famous series of novels. Just when one thinks he has discovered how some of her marvelous magic works, she shifts direction and shape ( as an artist) and shows the observer that being possibly the world's greatest organizer is only one of her many gifts. Like Marcel Duchamp, Rene Magritte and Max Ernst all rolled into one, she is finally most, in my mind, like Picasso: a protean inventor and ceaselessly concentrated maker of small miracles-- for others as well as herself. Bless her and her many efforts on behalf of all of us. In particular, the conjuror and chief promulgator of the PORTRAIT PARTY deserves a digital bronze plaque for her earnest efforts. N.C. Mallory
