I have an Interior Design background, and spent several years exploring the areas of painted furniture, wall hangings and floorcloths. My Geometric (Precisionist style) Architectural Landscape Paintings involve interpretations with an emphasis on precise, sharply defined geometric forms, spatial relationships, patterns, color, and further explorations of geometric design. Brushing on smooth and precise, sharply delineated broad areas of color, care is taken to stay within drawn and straight or curvillinear lines. Stillness and quiet, combined with an absence of the allusion of movement, and an expression of related energy is the primary engine of my body of work. Expressing stillness, while not eliminating its sense of primary energy, is a way for me to hopefully bring some degree of sanity to the frantic world of multitasking and violence in which we find ourselves. With it, I hope to provide a reminder to the viewer that, in the midest of all of this chaos, there can be beauty in stillness and peacefulness at any time that it is there. We only need to capture it, get in touch with our own stillness and quiet, and attempt to share it with others. My passion for the drama and precision of simple linear, repeated forms identifies my work. Architecture has long been my major interest. people and nature are usually absent from my paintings. Volumes are reduced to colored planes. Canvases combine effects of flatness with those of depth and perspective. My paintings are uncomplicated and appealing to anyone's love of color and pattern, as well of those seeking the stimulation of innovative and unique works of contemporary art. My work has been shown in shops and galleries in Illinois (Chicago primarily), Indiana and Michigan, New York City, and now, in Tucson. I participate in Tucson Pima County Council's Open Studios and the Tucson Museum of Art's Artisans market. In June, 2010, I'll have a solo show at the Tucson International Airport gallery, lasting through August 6, 2010.
