Hi, I’m Judith Hoffman. I have been making things since I was a kid. I didn’t take myself seriously until I was in my 30’s and decided to go to art school. It was a good time for me – “I have to do my homework” is a great excuse to make art.
Now I use drawing and collage to make artist’s books and other objects.
Past projects have included a series of pinhole cameras, taking photos with the cameras, and making artist’s books that hold the photos. Making these cameras allows me to see into another world. I can look into the late Cretaceous and watch dinosaurs walk about. I can see into my dreams, and revisit memories.
Some of my cameras are made of metal, mostly brass and copper. Oneiro was made from an old tin box that was lying around. And the Zymo 127 is a film camera made from an Altoids tin.
