[New Version]

I was born and raised on the prairie in South Dakota. I developed a love for nature and an appreciation of grand vistas. While I don't live there anymore, I will always be called to wide open spaces, treeless landscapes, and sprawling cloudscapes.

Time and location restrict my ability to produce the kind of images that speak to me, however I am still in love with photography and will shoot whatever I can when given the opportunity. I have little experience with portrait work (other than family stuff - which won't appear here), though I would love to try my hand given a chance.

Thanks for taking a look and any comments you leave. If you have any questions, please ask.

[Original Version - '15]

One Half of an enthusiast duo. While both of us enjoy photography and can take wonderful pics - I (Jake) am the one who started and runs this page (also the nearly exclusive photo editor). As such, comments and criticism are most welcome (preferably driven by kindness, but if you have something to say about or in response to something you see/read please don't hesitate to let me know in the comments - or shoot me an email). We are always seeking to learn and become better.

We have been avid photography enthusiasts for more than a decade, and have taken pictures wherever we went. With nearly 100k pics to cull from, it was time to start putting the best ones up for people to see. We started doing just that halfway through June of '15 (even though this account is much older).

These are from all over, so if it doesn't say (and you are curious) just ask. The editing was designed for the best look on a computer screen (to ensure your getting the best from your monitor see: Here and Here). If you print one and it seems sub-par, please get in touch with me. I'll rework it, and maybe even remove the watermark.

Our original camera was a Kodak DX7590 (bought in '05). It was a great starter camera - mostly automatic, but enough manual controls for us to learn more about photography through trial and error (and the ever helpful internet). Just before we made a cross country move in 2008 we bought a Nikon D80. Most of our best pictures thus far have been taken with the D80.

In September of '15 we upgraded to the D750... And WOW! The learning curve on this camera is pretty steep (especially since we've never done anything with video recording - other than on a smartphone). As we learn more about this camera (and venture out to some nice places) I may start posting shots taken with the D750.
