"You don't take a photograph, you make it." -- Ansel Adams

“It is my intention to present - through the medium of photography - intuitive observations of the natural world which may have meaning to the spectators.” -- Ansel Adams

So many are content to be distracted with only that which is "man-made"....having never really taken the time nor effort to understand the refreshing nature of..... Nature. - Me

I have developed the passion I have for this wonderful medium of photography. It has sprung from the passion I have for the outdoors and my love of creating. However, I am also keenly aware it is my passion for The Living God and His Son Jesus working through His Holy Spirit in me that helps me not only see the world around me but recognize the gifts of creation that are there. It is the Living God who has placed the ability and love for creativity in me. I just had to recognize it and learn to grow in it.

The collection of images you will find here are arranged in what I call "stories"...Flickr refers to them as "albums". Each of my outings, whether to the mountains, plains, city or just around my home, are meant to be considered together as a single story, a collection of captures that were capturing me at the time. For me, photography is a two-part experience, the actual moment I am there, and then again as I reflectively experience the moment and begin the process of joining to the tangible image the intangible layers of my own memories and emotions. Like pages from a diary, my images are expressions of not just where I've been, but glimpses into a part of me I find I have no better way to share.

I'm particularly interested in the world of cover art....for both the music and literary worlds. I love collaborating with writers and musicians to bring an image to their work that expresses the emotion they have already ignited. So, if that sounds like something you would be interested in, please contact me, and let's get to work.

I now have a new website available for you to visit. I hope you will take a few moments to look and let me know what you think.

FYI....if you add and/or fav me or my pics, and you have no icon, profile, or pics of your own.....I will block you. Sorry.

THANK YOU for your support.

11/2022 Update

As a photographer, I have tended to be one who decides to "go shoot" rather than one who always has a camera close at hand. So my images reflect my mini-expeditions and are meant to tell a story as a whole. Over the past 2-3 years, I developed a workflow that allows me to develop a more cohesive look to the images within the same "story".

Some artists develop a unique singularity of vision that I find irresistible. John (jssteak) is one such artist. Technically: dead on for composition, use of foreground and background elements, balance and symmetry, interplay of light and shadow, and evocation of form and shape. Artistically/spirtually: it’s his use of tone, a warm color palette, point of view, and remarkable ability with textures that makes him distinctive. I know one of his images immediately, just from a thumb. Among thousands of artists, John's are pointedly personal, specific, immediately identifiable, and unique. If he were a jazz musician (I love jazz and equate art with music and food) he’d be blowin’ one of the smoothest, warm-toned tenor saxes on the planet. Can you dig the man!?

Truly an artist. It's easy to spot a jssteak shot in a stream of photos. He has a style of his own, and he also captures US in a fantastic way.

When I lived out west, I was in school with photographers like John. I always tried to capture the tangible feel of the beauty I was living in but could never bring back that distinct feeling in my camera like they so effortlessly seemed to do. I've learned since then that is not without effort but rather a deep connection that they, and John, have with the land they are photographing. I am so grateful for this gift that he shares so I can have a little slice of my Colorado here in Wisconsin.
