I’ve recently become acquainted with Jack Booth and his work as an enthusiastic and very skilled photographer. Jack tells me that he started taking photographers in 2000 and switched from film to digital in 2005, but from the quality of his work, one would think he’s been shooting for a lifetime. His body of work is excellent. Jack’s a retired journalist whose passion has become photography, landscape photography, in particular. Having been a photographer for most of my life I know that this type of photography is not easy; it often requires awakening long before dawn and spending long days waiting in the cold or heat in order to catch perfect light, and often trekking off road on foot for miles at the risk of one’s health and well being to get to the desired shooting location. I’ve had a chance to view Jack’s photostream critically and I’m very impressed by what I see. His images are well composed, crisp and clean. The color is pure and vibrant. From his background as a journalist Jack recognizes the kind of preparation that is required to create a first-rate photograph. His enthusiasm is apparent in every shot. Most importantly Jack has the one ingredient necessary to take his photography to an even higher level --- he has a wonderful eye. Jack has begun his own photo-blog, I encourage Flickr photographers to visit it frequently, it is first class in every way. I’m happy to know Jack and I look forward to seeing and appreciating more of his work.
