Hi! My name is Jotashock, I am a street artist from Venezuela. I am frequently involved in art showcases with works done on traditional mediums like canvas or paper, although what I prefer is doing big murals with spray paint. I've accomplished these interventions directly on museum and art gallery walls. But my favorite place to show my work is the biggest gallery in the world: The Street.

Street art is in essence devotion, detachment. It is understanding the value of the ephemeral. For me graffiti are like living beings. They are vulnerable, in constant change, they're not static works, they grow old and finally end up dying. It is these characteristics that attract me to street art: the ephemeral and the mutant.

I am also interested in being in contact with people, with the surroundings. Painting on the streets sometimes becomes a complete adventure filled with joy and misfortune, and it's the adrenaline, the struggle with the cops, the intolerance of the people, it's the rain, the sun, the darkness, the yelling, the insults, the cheers, the laughter of children and the will of keep doing it while our bodies allows us, the invisible strength that moves us.

Hola! Mi nombre es Jotashock. Soy un artista urbano de Venezuela. Participo con frecuencia en muestras de arte, con obras hechas en soportes tradicionales como lienzo o papel, aunque lo que más me gusta es hacer grandes murales con spray. He logrado realizar estas intervenciones directamente sobre las paredes de museos y salas de exposición. Pero mi sitio predilecto para mostrar mi trabajo es la galería más grande del mundo: La Calle.

El arte urbano es en esencia entrega, desapego. Es comprender el valor de lo efímero. Para mí los graffitis son como los seres vivos. Son vulnerables, estan en constante cambio, no son obras estáticas, envejecen y finalmente terminan muriendo. Son esas características las que más me atraen del arte urbano: lo efímero y lo mutante.

Me interesan además el contacto con la gente, con el ambiente circundante. Pintar en la calle a veces resulta toda una aventura llena de alegrías y desventuras, y es la adrenalina, ese luchar contra la policia, la intolerancia de la gente, es la lluvia, es el sol, es la oscuridad, son los gritos, los insultos, los aplausos, las risas de los niños y el querer seguir haciendolo mientras nuestro cuerpo lo permita la fuerza invisible que nos mueve.
