I figured that I should probably write a little biographical page about myself, explaining in some words who I am.
My name is Brian Jones and I am currently a computer science student at Lakehead University, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. During the school year I work part time–full time in the summer–in the Internet Service Provider industry. Personally, I prefer to call it the converged communications industry since the work I do spans a variety of technologies and services from networking, server administration, programming, VOIP,
Besides computers, I’m also interested in writing and literature, art and drawing, photography, Christian spirituality. I tend to blog about the things I’m interested in, which usually includes everything from computers to life. I don’t have any specific topic, which might be my blogging downfall. Now and then I toy with the idea of creating a topic specific blog.
Besides work I also do a lot of consulting, related to computers, programming, information systems, networking, servers, etc. Some day I wouldn’t mind doing some speaking at conferences about technology, programming, or blogging. I could probably speak about how to set up a linux box for hosting your own blog. I’m the kind of guy who doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty, even if it involves touching a few bits.
I’m born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. And amazingly, I’m still living here, and don’t mind it too much.
