I consider myself a photographer with a passion for light, celebrating friendships, art and beauty. I take photos as a way to relax and to save some of my memories with great people in SL.
Sometimes people ask me how I make my photos. Well, I have no fixed methods, but I can tell a little bit about it.
I wander through SL with great curiosity for the amazing places people have created. They inspire me to use all my camera skills to fly through, in and over a place from all angles, I zoom in and out, I pan and dolly... whilst playing with any Windlight setting slider I can get my hand on.... All in order to get that lucky shot.
The subject of my photos often is simple, it's something I can focus on: a person in a distinctive pose, a portrait of a good friend, an object in a landcape... I do not work with made up conceptual meaning beforehand, I merely seek beauty in what I see: nature, people, beauty that touches me. This is key for making a personal photo. I try to be open to see it, and then the photo often presents itself to me.
The way I compose my photos is often loosely based on the Rule of Thirds, a simple method to put important subjects on so called 'strong points' in the picture. But of course, when shooting in the wild... rules do not always apply ;)
In Photoshop I play some more with the photo. I might add a little vignetting... or I overlay the photo with grungy textures.. I sometimes add a half transparent blurred version of the image on top of the original and then play with the blend modes... Many things are possible if you dare to play (and keep a copy of the original! ;)
Usually, to finalize, I sharpen the picture juuuuust a little and add some grain to give it a bit of an analogue style sometimes.
If you wanna know more or discuss anything... throw me an IM or Flickr-mail.
Cheers!
