During most of my waking hours – when not busy at work – I will typically be found trackside with my camera in hand. I crossed the "digital divide" in May 2008 after buying a lightly-used Nikon D70 from a friend. I have since upgraded to a Nikon D90 and keep the D70 in my camera bag as a spare.
I've come to Flickr somewhat later than most of my friends, but I've tried to make up for lost time. Many of my photos may have only rudimentary captions, but nearly all the images on my Flickr site are geotagged so that you can find the photo locations on my Flickr map. From my map, you'll see where I tend to travel and where I take photographs! Learn more about geotagging on Flickr.
I've also tried to put tags on all my photos. I have tags for broad categories like "railroad" as well as more specific tags like "color position light" or "Chicago & North Western". Hopefully these tags will help you find any subject matter you seek.
I don't generally tag by location; in order to find shots I've taken at a particular location, use my map.
Here I am with my trusty Nikon FE2 while enjoying a trip with friends along the former Baltimore & Ohio at Deshler, Ohio in October 2006.
And here I am working on the crossing warning devices at the Monticello Railway Museum, where I volunteer. I do signal maintenance and train service at the museum as well as other work.
Camera: Nikon D90 and D70, I have but no longer use the Nikon FE2 with Nikon MD-14 motor drive.
For flash photography, I use my Nikon speedlight SB-600. When I need a flash for macro photography, I use my SB-21 ring flash. I've used Nikon speedlights SB-15 and SB-22 in the past, and I previously used a point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot A80 as well.
