Jon is an extremely talented photographer - and one quick look through his photostream will confirm that fact. He has the artist's eye and it shows in his use of color and composition. But what you might not know is that this talented man is also a generous member of the Flickr community who takes the time and makes the effort to praise other's works here on a regular basis. Flickr is a better place because Jon is involved here, and I'm proud to call him a friend...

I have wanted to write a testimonial for Jon for some time. His work is important to me as it inspires, instructs and is a joy to see. His technical skills as a photographer are superb and enviable. His range of topics are interesting. But I feel his most important contribution is his work in flower photography. Jon does not just create a lovely flower "mug shot" suitable for gardening guide or seed catalogue, but he infuses into the photo a sense of the magic and mystery of the ephemeral and transitory nature of the subject. One sees the effect of light, the beauty of the colors, and that dance of life from sprout to shoot to flower to seed to death to sprout. This is not just photography, it is Art. Thanks Jon. Carry on!!!

I consider Jon to be a special friend in my Flickr community. He's a witty guy, generous with his comments and has a wide array of photographic and graphic talents. He "sees" as well as he presents his work.

Jon actually says it best in his Visitors Start Here set (what a great idea!), when he reveals this about what viewers will see in his photostream: "Skylines, flower hearts, comical insects, vivid backgrounds, rippling water, sailing clouds -- and lots of color. I am continually crossing the line between the realistic and the impressionistic ... even within the same image!" What he has neglected to mention are his creative titles and great photographic skill. His sets, which reflect the diversity of his interests, are a joy to explore, especially (but certainly not limited to!) his Top 12's. He is also a fine member of the Flickr community, taking time to make comments and encourage others. Thanks for being part of the Flickr community, Jon. His arsenal of equipment is enviable, but it is not the gear that creates his wonderful images, but Jon himself.

Jon's photos are always technically brilliant, but have a marvelous lyricism. He has extrordinary eye for color, lighting and composition. Jon captures the most interesting and enticing images. His entire stream is stunning! Bravo, Jon!
