Colgate University student exploring the wonders of photography. From iPhone to DSLR, nature to dance festivals, vibrant colors to stark black and whites, my journey in photography takes me to many different places and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I first got into photography when I saw a friend take these amazing photos for her job. I decided that I wanted to make beautiful works of my own so I took an online class on basic photography skills. You can see these beginner photos in my Westmoor Park and Troutbrook Trail photos.
Wanting more control and fidelity in my photos, I decided to purchase a Canon EOS Rebel SL1 and was able to play with the zoom lens. You can see these photos in my Boston album.
Finally, I was able to become a photographer for the Colgate Communications Office and was given access to a Nikon D3S with multiple lenses and a flash. Being under the supervision of an expert photographer allowed me to get used to taking photos of live events and dark lighting. That's what makes up most of the photos in the album.
Looking back, I have to say that I really enjoy capturing genuine moments of emotion. Seeing these actions and reactions have immense stories built into them naturally. Yet, my photography classes taught me that I shouldn't be limited to only these candids. Through more structured or 'scripted' photoshoots I was able to create, refine, and experiment to create my own unique style. Two Halves and the Playground albums encompass this work to explore the chaos of the mind.
