My photographic journey began at the age of 16 when my parents bought me my first "proper" camera. My trusty Pentax ME Super film camera went with me everywhere and I slowly built up my confidence and skills as a photographer throughout the years. My first proper job was an estate agent where I discovered a talent for property photography and sales and marketing. I realised quite quickly that technical skill in photography is only one part of the process in getting the best out of any subject. You need the soft skills in getting the very best out of any subject whether they be children of all ages at school graduations, couples looking to capture the intimacy and joy of their special day or families looking to capture the essence of a special celebration. I have covered all these magical moments with the attention to detail and enthusiasm to ensure every moment is perfectly captured.

First and foremost my passion has always been photographing people. My whole professional life has been in recruitment and careers counselling, working with individuals or small groups in professional and school settings. I love meeting new people and getting to know them and supporting them make informed decisions about their careers and recruitment choices. Working as a wedding and portrait photographer has been a natural extension of my professional work. Talking to people, getting to know them and understanding their requirements are transferable skills across so many sectors, especially the wedding sector.

I am now in my 10th year photographing weddings and have covered over 100 weddings across Scotland. My style has always been to capture a couples special day by telling the wedding story through a series of beautiful posed and unposed photographs that show the love and joy of their special day.

Capturing the essence of a special day still requires meticulous planning and attention to detail but my job is to record the day as it naturally unfolds, to capture even the unexpected, un-rehearsed moments that are often the images that couples will want to share over and over. The equipment used to capture perfect images is secondary to understanding any subject and gently directing them in natural poses that will bring out their true personality.

Always full of enthusiasm, Kerr is a brilliant photographer and I'm glad to get the chance to work with him.. and occasionally pinch his techniques! He's one of the first people I'll ask photography questions to, or ask him for feedback.
